The online video platform company YouTube has announced the addition of a new selection of experimental features for users of the YouTube Premium subscription service, including high sound quality, accelerated playback options on mobile devices, and a ‘jump ahead’ feature that allows users to quickly get to the most important part of a video. According to information from the site TechCrunch, which specializes in technology topics, the platform constantly tests new features that users can activate at youtube.com/new.
The company stated that users can now enable the experimental feature, allowing them to listen to music with higher sound quality up to 256 kbps. It is noted that YouTube Music offers this high quality when the user selects the 'high quality' option in the playback settings menu. Using YouTube on a mobile device, the 'picture-in-picture' function will be useful if the user wants to quickly reply to a text message, email, or check something else while watching the video.
One of the new options for users is the ability to launch the YouTube Shorts service in 'picture-in-picture' mode on iOS smartphones.
