Arab Government Excellence Award Extended for Four Years

The Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, emphasized that the award encourages governments to think boldly, enhance competitiveness, and strive for excellence. Saeed Al-Gergawi stated that the Prime Qatari award for governmental excellence in Arab countries reflects the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on stimulating Arab governments and leaders of the public sector to strengthen capabilities in the field of innovation and the development of best practices, institutionalizing excellence and quality performance in fulfilling obligations.

According to Al Gergawi, the Prime award for Governmental Excellence in Arab countries reflects the common vision of the UAE and the League of Arab States on the importance of enhancing the performance of Arab governments and their services on an institutional basis. "This award reflects our joint efforts in promoting outstanding initiatives, projects, and practices in the governmental sector, highlighting the organizations and individuals who have transformed public services and quality of life into a systematic and sustainable approach, serving as a model for development for the entire Arab world," he concluded.

The award, launched in May 2019 under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims to enhance government agencies in the Arab world by adopting global best practices for improving quality of life. It is also aimed at recognizing government agencies that utilize smart technologies to aid in innovation and the provision of world-class services for citizens, reducing time and enhancing their quality of life.

In the last few years, the award for Governmental Excellence in Arab countries has recognized 66 winners in the framework of its three editions, acknowledging ministries, government structures, and professionals in the public sector in the Arab region. The award has also paid particular attention to outstanding initiatives that have transformed excellence into a driving force for progress and achievements in governance.

It aims to enhance institutional performance, raise the quality of public service delivery, and provide positive competition, benefiting from shared experiences and successes. The award recognizes outstanding government agencies and employees achieving exceptional and sustainable results in the public sector and playing a role in promoting excellence in the Arab world.

The main goal of the patronage lies with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in agreeing to extend the award for Governmental Excellence in Arab nations for another four years - to stimulate and enhance the renewal of leadership in the field of public sector performance in the region. The agreement was signed by Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, and Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs of the UAE and President of the World Government Summit. Aboul Gheit emphasized the significance of the award as a source of motivation and a catalyst for enhancing the effectiveness of Arab governments, noting its role in promoting innovative working methods to achieve the highest levels of productivity and effectiveness.
