EU Proposes Migration Centers Outside Member States

The European Commission has suggested allowing member states to establish centers in non-EU countries for migrants whose asylum requests have been denied.

EU Proposes Migration Centers Outside Member States

The international organization proposed the opportunity to create centers in partner countries beyond the borders of the Eurozone, where migrants whose asylum requests were rejected could wait for their further status.

This proposal was presented as part of a reform package aimed at strengthening the European asylum system. According to the words of the Commission members, the goal of this initiative is to alleviate pressure on member states that are at the forefront of the fight against migration flows.

An important aspect of such an approach is ensuring safe and dignified conditions for people located in centers beyond the EU borders, in order to guarantee the respect for human rights and the dignity of these individuals.

"We must find a sustainable solution of solidarity and responsibility, which will allow us to better manage migration pressure and ensure protection for those who need it," noted one of the representatives of the Commission.
