King Charles III is considering involving Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, the daughters of his brother Andrew, in royal duties from time to time. This is seen as a public show of support for the princesses, according to sources familiar with the matter for 'Vanity Fair' magazine.
A royal source said: 'This was under consideration before recent events, but despite what happened with Andrew, it has not been ruled out.' They added: 'Regardless of what people may think of Andrew, the two princesses are sweet and hardworking, and they want to help if they can.'
Last week, it was announced that Princess Eugenie (34) is working with The King's Foundation as a mentor. At a reception for mentors under 35 in London on November 13, Eugenie appeared very happy to be there.
One source at the event said: 'She was very excited to be there and looked very proud of her invitation.'
The princess, in turn, said: 'It was wonderful to spend more time with 35 people under 35, they are a great group of talented young people. I enjoyed getting to know them better, listening to their work and ambitions, and I look forward to supporting their journey in the future.'
She continued: 'My passion for the arts has shaped my career, so I am delighted to be working with The King's Foundation to support this inspiring group of artists and creators.'
Meanwhile, it was announced that Princess Beatrice, who serves as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at the technology company 'Afinity', has been appointed Vice President of a charity focused on outdoor education after previously serving as a trustee.
Title Stripping
At the end of last month, King Charles III stripped his brother Andrew of his titles, honors, and the style of 'His Royal Highness' following the fallout from Andrew's association with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender.
Sources close to King Charles III said, 'The King loves his nieces and does not want them to suffer because of their father's fall.' They added, 'No agreement has been reached on the future of Beatrice and Eugenie; they are ordinary people in this regard, but there have been talks for some time about involving them when needed, and both have expressed full willingness to undertake public duties if they can to support the King.'
The sources indicated that King Charles III is 'testing the waters' to see the public's acceptance of his nieces.
Family Ambassadors
In the past, the princesses have attended royal garden parties as family ambassadors and other external events, although they do not receive any public funds.
According to a source close to the princesses, Beatrice and Eugenie 'understand there is a responsibility to support their uncle, and they want to support him.'
Friends of the family say it has been a 'devastating' time for Andrew's family, but Beatrice and Eugenie were determined to 'stay together and stay strong.' Earlier this month, photos were taken of the sisters hugging in London.
