In a step reflecting the rising status of the UAE in shaping global economic policy, the World Economic Forum has announced the appointment of Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Managing Director and CEO of Mubadala Investment, as Chairman of the International Business Council (IBC). With this appointment, Al Mubarak becomes the first person from the Middle East to head this prestigious council since its inception, for a two-year term, to lead one of the World Economic Forum's most important strategic platforms. It is worth noting that the International Business Council (IBC) is a strategic advisory body affiliated with the World Economic Forum, and its membership includes approximately 100 of the world's top chief executive officers from various sectors. The council is an exclusive platform that brings together the world's most influential corporate leaders (such as McKinsey and Iberdrola) who regularly participate in Davos sessions to exchange insights on 21st-century leadership and responsible innovation. The International Business Council is an exclusive platform that brings together more than 120 of the world's largest multinational companies' top chief executive officers and chairmen of the boards of directors. The council aims to enhance the role of the private sector as a primary and active partner in addressing accelerating global challenges, whether economic, environmental, or technological. Additionally, the council coordinates between corporations and governments on matters of governance, sustainability, and inclusive growth. The council also serves as a strategic link in shaping and developing major decisions and initiatives that are presented and discussed prior to the World Economic Forum's annual meetings in Davos. The selection of Khaldoon Al Mubarak for this position is an affirmation of international confidence in the UAE's economic vision and the ability of its leadership to manage complex global dialogues.
