Geneva - AFP The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on Friday called for a "chance for peace" in the Middle East and urged the warring parties to calm down, on the sixth day of the Israeli-American war with Iran. Restraint is necessary to avoid further horror and destruction. He added: "I call on the concerned countries to act immediately to de-escalate, give peace a chance, and I urge the rest of the countries to clearly demand that the warring parties back down". Volker Turk told journalists: "The world must take urgent steps to contain and extinguish this fire, but we are seeing only more incendiary and hostile rhetoric, more bombing, more destruction, death, and escalation".
