
The Dubai Succession Court demonstrated significant effectiveness in handling cases over its first twelve months - 1814 inheritance cases were processed. This was achieved due to the provision of exclusive judicial services, adherence to principles of the rule of law, and ensuring justice for all. The head of the court noted that significant achievements of the Succession Court in its first year testify to Dubai's commitment to developing a modern judicial system.
The Director General of Dubai Courts Saif Ghanem Al Suwaidi emphasized that the Succession Court represents significant progress in the Dubai judicial system, providing fast and effective legal decisions for all parties involved in succession disputes. He underlined that the court reflects Dubai's adherence to transparent and effective justice. The establishment of the court and its activities reflect a strategic approach outlined by the highly revered Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The specialized court successfully resolves disputes on inheritance, contributing to social and family integrity, as well as economic stability, in line with Dubai's Social Agenda 33 and Dubai's Economic Agenda E33. The focus on supporting justice with the use of the latest technologies remains a priority for ensuring a fair, independent judicial process characterized by transparency and neutrality.
Professor Abdullakh Saif Al-Sabusi, the Secretary General of the Dubai Judicial Council, noted that the Succession Court has successfully managed the increasing volume of inheritance claims. Judge Mohammed Jassim Al Shamsi, head of the Succession Court, reported on the implementation of comprehensive improvements, including the introduction of 'smart applications' that accelerate the processing of applications and enhance the effectiveness of services. A specialized program for enhancing qualifications for inheritance practitioners was also proposed.
The court successfully processed more than 1800 inheritance cases, the total value of which exceeded 32.8 billion dirhams, while the inherited assets exceeded 342 million dirhams. Over the year, 972 certificates for inherited assets were issued for Muslims and 315 for non-Muslims. The court processed over 34 thousand applications through 'smart applications' with an average processing time of less than five hours and 13 minutes. The court successfully resolved conflicts in 626 cases. 68% of cases were fully resolved, while another 23% were partially resolved. In total, 344 agreements on amicable resolution were reached, amounting to approximately 2 billion dirhams.
