50 teams from cities around the world have gathered in Dubai to compete in the Burj Challenge as part of the upcoming Dubai Games 2025. The challenge requires participants to race up 160 floors of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, wearing weighted vests in a test of endurance and teamwork.
The high level of global participation in this year's Battle of the Cities highlights the growing reputation of Dubai Games as a premier international sporting event that celebrates competition and collaboration. With 244 teams competing across different categories, the total prize pool for the Games exceeds AED3.1 million.
Teams from cities like Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait City, and Manama are participating in this year's event. The competition aims to promote an active lifestyle among the youth and embodies values of renewal, ambition, and resilience, reflecting Dubai's dynamic spirit.
The Burj Challenge saw teams pushing their limits, with athletes from Colorado, USA; Oviedo, Spain; and Kutna Hora, Czech Republic, leading the pack with exceptional times. Racing to the top of the Burj Khalifa wearing weighted vests, participants displayed physical and mental toughness in the grueling race.
Partners like DP World, DAMAC Group, and Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat) are supporting this year's Dubai Games, further establishing the event as a prominent fixture in the global sporting calendar. The tournament will run from 20 to 23 February at Dubai Festival City, with teams from various countries showcasing their skills in a display of talent, strategy, and teamwork.
The event has attracted teams from countries across five continents, including the USA, Denmark, Spain, Germany, Portugal, and many more, making it a truly diverse and competitive platform for athletes to excel and showcase their abilities.
