The Legionnaire "Al-Wasl" Kayou confirmed that the qualification of the team in the 1/16 final of the AFC Champions League brings great responsibility to the players, since it is already known that the club prefers to play a strong match against the Qatari club "Al-Sadd" in the 1/8 final.
In an interview for the newspaper "Emirates Today" Kayou confirmed that the fifth position of "Al-Wasl" in the champions table allows to avoid the team from matching with the Saudi club "Nasr", and that the team did not think about the super team with which it prefers to play. "The game with "Al-Sadd" does not mean that "Al-Wasl" will have a match less complex than with "Nasr", since all the matches in the playoffs are very difficult," he confirmed.
Kayou noted that every team progressing to this stage must be prepared to play against any team, and that it is important to be adequately prepared for this decisive stage of the tournament. "We played with the team "Al-Sadd" in the Emir’s Super Cup and, undoubtedly, each team knows each other well, but the match in the 1/16 final is significantly different from the previous two matches, and we need to deal with it very thoughtfully."
The footballer of the national team evaluated the performance of "Al-Wasl" against the Saudi team "Al-Hilal" at the end of the group stage, which ended with a defeat 0:2. "We played a good match, we had a chance for a better result than the defeat 0:2, but we were unlucky, especially in the first half when we had several chances to score a goal."
He concluded that the upcoming stage of the season is very important for "Al-Wasl", since the team reached the semifinals of the President's Cup, and also in the semifinals of the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup, and aims to achieve the best result possible in the AFC Champions League. "Therefore, the players require maximum concentration to end the season with some trophies after the victories in the Emir’s Super Cup and Qatar."
Answering the question about the extension of the contract with "Al-Wasl", which ends at the end of the current season, he said: "My concentration is now on giving all my strength and help the team achieve victories, since, as I stated, we are facing a key stage of the season, and regarding the extension of the contract, I can say that for me "Al-Wasl" is my home, where I first came to the UAE, and my relationship with the club and the fans is excellent, and for me, of course, it will be pleasant to remain in the squad, but right now we need to focus on the matches, and about my future in the team we can talk later."
