Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, confirmed that the sports sector in Dubai possesses all the ingredients for success, development, and growth in terms of performance and results. This is thanks to the continuous support from the wise leadership, government legislation supporting sports, initiatives to attract and develop talent, incentives for private sector investors, and partnerships with international sports organizations. This came during his chairmanship of the Dubai Sports Council's Board of Directors meeting, attended by Vice Chairman Khalafan Juma Al Beloul and board members Ali Al Mutoi, Ahmed Al Khaja, Ismail Al Hashemi, Dr. Abdullah Al Karam, and Saeed Harib, Council Secretary General. Sheikh Mansoor was briefed during the meeting on the progress in developing the Council's new strategic plan, which is being formulated based on the outcomes of the 'Dubai Sports Retreat', a study of the current state of the sports sector, and its future prospects. Sheikh Mansoor directed that the details of the plan, its initiatives, and goals be presented to the sports sector, stakeholders, and partners from the public and private sectors to enable them to contribute to achieving the strategic plan and developing Dubai's sports sector and enhancing its global leadership. Sheikh Mansoor said: 'Our plans, goals, initiatives, and aspirations in the sports sector must be commensurate with Dubai's status, leadership, and global achievements, and we must double our efforts to achieve our future vision and enhance Dubai's position as a comprehensive global sports destination.' He added: 'Dubai leads many indicators of competitiveness, growth, and excellence in economic, tourism, cultural, educational, and quality-of-life sectors, and we must place it at the forefront of global sports indicators and develop the sports sector in a manner that befits Dubai's global status and distinction.' During the meeting, Sheikh Mansoor approved changing the name of the 'Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Sports Innovation' to the 'Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum World Sports Award' and organizing it as part of the 'Global Sports Summit'. Sheikh Mansoor noted that the new name of the award is in line with its significant global role in developing sports and honoring champions across various sports fields. Sheikh Mansoor was also briefed on the Dubai Sports Council's preparations for organizing the 'Global Sports Summit', which was directed to be organized by his highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, on December 29 and 30. Sheikh Mansoor confirmed that this summit will be a global sports gathering featuring the world's top sports stars, experts, and decision-makers, and a platform to highlight the importance of enhancing cooperation to create a better future for global sports. The Dubai Sports Council meeting also addressed widespread community participation in the initiative to design Dubai's new sports identity and reviewed the key sports events Dubai will host in the coming period and the ongoing preparations for their organization.
