Norwegian Manchester City striker Erling Haaland (25) has praised the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system, despite being caught offside 18 times in the Premier League over the past three and a half years. Haaland, who has scored 26 goals in 16 matches for club and country so far this season, said before facing his former club Borussia Dortmund: "Being caught offside 18 times in three and a half years is not bad. I hate being offside, but if VAR is there, there's no escaping it." He also commented: "I think having VAR helps me because I keep progressing as long as I don't hear the whistle. If I'm barely in an offside position, I'm probably not offside."
