Emirati judo player Bisharat Khroudi won the first gold medal for the UAE at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games (ISSA), which kicked off yesterday, Friday, in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. A total of 147 judo players from 32 countries, including 12 Arab nations, participated in the event. She claimed victory by defeating Kazakhstan's Aygul Tolganay in the under-52 kg category, which featured 12 top-ranked athletes. She also triumphed over Uzbekistan's Muxa Yakhmatova and, in the final, over the silver medalist from Tajikistan, Madina Kurbatova, thereby securing the gold medal with full merit and efficiency, placing UAE judo among the leading teams. Mohammed bin Thaloub Al-Dhara'i, President of the Judo Federation, congratulated the National Olympic Committee and the gold medalist Bisharat on her continued brilliance in 2025, affirming that the opportunity to win more medals in judo during the games is still wide open.
