Al-Ahli's youth coach Paulo Sousa confirmed that his team did not perform as required against Al-Nasr in the Professional League Cup, especially on an individual level. The match, held on Saturday, ended with Al-Nasr winning on penalties, advancing them to the semi-finals. During the post-match press conference, Sousa criticized what he described as 'time-wasting' during the game, expressing his regret and emphasizing the importance of speeding up the pace of play to enhance the match level. He added that what saddens him is that the match was stopped more than once due to the opposing team's goalkeeper, substitutions, and also twice due to the video assistant referee (VAR) review to check some refereeing cases. The Al-Ahli coach also pointed out that, as a coach, he takes responsibility for the players' mistakes.
