Ibrahim Diara: Hero as Al-Wahda Reach Semi-Finals

Ibrahim Diara was named Man of the Match after he managed to score two goals against Ahmed Al-Hosni in the 82nd and 90+3rd minutes, after Khorfakkan had been leading in the first half through their player, Lawrence.

With this victory, Al-Wahda completed its 30th match in all domestic and continental competitions without any defeat, including 18 matches under the leadership of their current coach, José Mouriño.

Diara concluded: "I am happy that I was able to help the team and achieve this important victory, which has taken us to the semi-finals."

Al-Wahda's Malian midfielder, Ibrahim Diara, praised his team's spirit and his teammates' determination to achieve victory over Khorfakkan in the quarter-final of the Arabian Gulf League Cup (ADIB Cup), after the 'Yellow' side turned a deficit into a thrilling 2-1 win (first leg 2-2) to advance to the semi-finals.

Diara said in post-match statements: "Our team did not enter the match atmosphere as required in the first twenty minutes, we lost most of the duels, and the match required a fight, but we did not fight enough in the first half."

He added: "The real transformation came between halves after a harsh talk from the coach in the dressing room. The coach shouted at us and demanded we return with the spirit of fighters. In the second half, we showed our true character and won the duels, and this led us to victory."

Diara pointed out that Al-Wahda was closer to winning even before Khorfakkan's player Pedro Pavlov was sent off, saying: "We started the second half strongly and created clear chances."

He confirmed that the fans' support was a crucial factor in the late comeback, saying: "Even when we were behind in the 80th minute, the fans' voices were pushing us forward. This is what we always do, we fight until the end. It is true that the red card helped us, but I am confident that we would have won even without it."
