Abdullah Al Wahabi, Chairman of the Business Steering Committee of the UAE Aquatic Sports Federation, confirmed that the developmental swimming championship, recently held over two days at the Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai, marks a significant milestone in the federation's journey to expand the base of practitioners, refine the skills of young swimmers, and enhance the presence of promising talents on the sports scene. The Aquatic Sports Federation had organized the developmental swimming championship at the Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai, with the participation of over 600 swimmers representing 35 clubs and academies from various emirates of the country. This is part of its plan to support emerging talents and expand the base of practitioners through dedicated competitions for swimmers with limited experience, providing them with an opportunity to compete in fair events that enhance their technical development and support their athletic careers. Abdullah Al Wahabi told "Al Ittihad": "The championship saw the distinguished participation of over 600 swimmers, which reflects the growing interest in swimming and the increasing presence of academies and clubs within the talent development system." He added: "The developmental championship was specifically designed for swimmers who are still in the experience-building phase. It allows them to compete in various distances in a fair and balanced environment. This type of championship is very important because it gives swimmers with times slower than the 'C' level the opportunity to compete with athletes of similar abilities, which boosts their confidence and motivates them to continue working hard." Al Wahabi also pointed out that "the goal of this level is not just to provide an opportunity for participation, but to prepare a new generation of swimmers capable of gradual development". He affirmed that "this championship represents one of the most important initiatives of the federation to support emerging talent programs and expand participation in official championships". He explained that the choice of the Hamdan Sports Complex to host the event is due to its world-class infrastructure and advanced facilities, making it the ideal venue for holding such tournaments, whether at the local or international level.
