American basketball player Devonte Mottette made a significant contribution on the court, helping Al-Dhafra finish the first phase of the league in sixth place with nine points, six points behind the leader, Al-Nasr. Mottette contributed 45% of his team's total points, which amounted to 471 points during the seven matches of the phase.
It is worth noting that Al-Dhafra was considered the loser in their last match against Al-Wasl with a score of (0-20) due to their refusal to continue the match in protest of the refereeing decisions.
Mottette managed to record an average of 30.57 points per game, with his standout performance being 43 points in the sixth round, where Al-Dhafra defeated their neighbor Al-Jazira (78-76). He also surpassed the 40-point mark in the third and fourth rounds, which Al-Dhafra won against Al-Wahda (95-67), before losing to Al-Sharjah (83-103).
Thanks to his skill and high success rates on two-point and three-point shots, Mottette's performance led him to the top of the scoring charts, making him the only foreign player to surpass the 30-point average per game. He surpassed American Anthony Criswell of Al-Bataih, who finished second with an average of 29.14 points per game. In third place was American Marvel Harris of Al-Nasr (21.42 points), followed by former NBA player Gilleon Robinson of Al-Sharjah (19.85 points), and American DeShaun Washington of Al-Ahli, last season's top scorer, in fifth place (18.14 points).
Basketball teams are preparing to resume the second phase of the league tomorrow. Al-Dhafra's American player, Devonte Mottette, is ambitious to continue his stellar performance and maintain his lead at the top of the foreign players' scoring list.
Mottette concluded the first phase with a total of 214 points, securing the top spot in the scoring charts after averaging 30.57 points per game, the highest average among all foreign players.
Mottette is in his first season with Al-Dhafra following a professional career that spanned numerous European and Middle Eastern leagues.
