The International Boxing Association (IBA) has officially presented the 2025 Men's Amateur Boxing World Championship, which will be held from December 2 to 13 at the Dubai Tennis Stadium and will feature a record prize purse of $8 million. According to a report from the Argentine News Agency, the event will bring together the best boxers from around the planet, with $300,000 for each champion, making it the most lucrative competition in the history of the sport. Argentine boxers Guillermo Freire (51 kg), Thomas Casazza (67 kg), Matías Verón (92 kg), and Lucas Villalba (63.5 kg) will compete in the IBA-organized Amateur Boxing World Championship, taking place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Argentine Boxing Association (AAB) received an invitation to the tournament just days after being approved as an active member of the IBA, a great opportunity to compete with the best amateur boxers in the world. The draw for the boxers will take place this Wednesday, December 3, and from this Thursday, December 4, preliminary bouts will begin, running until December 11 with the quarterfinals and semifinals of the championship's 13 different weight classes. The final for each weight class will be on Saturday, December 13, at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium. The prize structure includes $150,000 for the runners-up, $75,000 for the third-place finishers, and $10,000 for those who finish fifth, with a distribution that includes the boxer, coaches, and national federations. The organization's president, Umar Kremlev, highlighted that 'the event aims to recognize collective effort' and turn Dubai into 'the world capital of boxing during December,' and stated that the goal is 'to give every boxer, coach, and federation the respect and reward they deserve'. The opening ceremony featured a special performance by five-division world champion Roy Jones Jr., who presented a performance created for the occasion, as well as the participation of Italian singer Benedetta Caretta.
