Al-Jazeera's player, Simon Banza from Congo, stated that facing Al-Wahda in the semi-final of the UAE Pro League Cup (Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup) represents a very tough challenge. This is not just a 'derby' match between two big clubs, but also a game with high sensitivity and historical rivalry between the two teams.
In an interview with "Emarat Al Youm", Banza said that this match requires full concentration from the start, emphasizing that small details will be crucial in determining the fate of the match. The team is fully aware of the importance of this stage, and every player must be in their best physical and mental condition.
"We are working on full concentration from the first minute because this match is very important for us. We understand that winning it will be a crucial step towards reaching the final that we have dreamed of since the beginning of the season," he added.
"There are some doubts about my participation due to the injury I'm suffering from. I will undergo a detailed medical evaluation to determine my readiness and the time I will need before returning to the pitch. I hope things will be positive and I can help the team in this important match. The main goal now is to prepare the team fully for the confrontation without taking risks, and if I am not in my best condition, I will respect the medical staff's instructions," he continued.
"Our team spirit and our past experiences in difficult matches help us deal with the pressure. We are fully aware that a semi-final does not tolerate any mistakes, and tactical discipline and teamwork will be the key to success. There is no doubt that beating Al-Wahda will be a big step towards achieving the dream of reaching the final, and the team is ready to work on every small detail of the match that can make the difference."
Regarding the match against Al-Wasl in the quarter-finals, he said: "It was a very difficult match against an organized and strong opponent with great potential. The match ended with our victory in stoppage time thanks to a high fighting spirit from all players. These critical moments showed the team's character and its ability to handle great pressure."
"Winning against Al-Wasl gave us a morale boost before facing Al-Wahda. We are taking things seriously and preparing for the derby with full seriousness. All players are committed to the coaching staff's plan."
He stressed the importance of focusing in both legs of the tie, saying: "The psychological aspect plays a crucial role in deciding derby matches. The team has enough experience to handle this pressure. We are excited to play the semi-final, which is a two-legged tie."
Banza concluded his statements by talking about his adaptation to Al-Jazeera after three months with the team: "I feel comfortable and fully integrated with the team since I joined Al-Jazeera. The atmosphere surrounding the team helps me focus and enjoy playing. However, the injury I sustained currently requires a detailed assessment before making a decision to play. I will not take a risk if I am not in my best condition. I will give myself enough time to rest and recover, with confidence that the medical staff will decide what is best for me and for the team."
