The Emirati Mohammed bin Sulayem was re-elected on Friday in Tashkent as the president of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) for a second term. Bin Sulayem was the sole candidate for the presidency and was elected with a list that garnered 91.5% of the votes from the General Assembly. Mohammed bin Sulayem was elected president of the FIA in 2021, succeeding the Frenchman Jean Todt, after the former Middle East Rally Champion received 61.62% of the votes from voters, becoming the first non-European to hold the post. He also won the Middle East Rally Championship title 14 times. The International Automobile Federation is responsible for organizing motor racing competitions, including the Formula One World Championship, the World Rally Championship, and the World Endurance Championship, as well as promoting road safety. The FIA comprises over 240 clubs in 146 countries, representing around 80 million members.
