Yesterday, the second leg of the Dubai Local Rowing Championship was held in the Dubai Marina area, at the second phase of the Dubai Medical City promenade. The event was organized by the Dubai International Marine Sports Club.
The competitions consisted of three heats: two for the local Emirati category and one for the open category, designated for government and private institutions.
In the first heat of the local category, the boat "Julfar 55", owned by His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, a member of the Federal Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, secured first place. The boat was helmed by Nadir Bader Al Shehhi. The "Gold 64" boat, owned and helmed by Ahmed Ibrahim Al Ghamlasi, came in second, while the "Ras Al Khaimah 27" boat, also owned by Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi and helmed by Nadar Hassan Al Qas, took third place.
In the second heat of the local category, the "Zalzal 51" boat, owned by His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi and helmed by Suleiman Ahmed Al Murai, claimed first place. The "Wadi Ham 2" boat, owned by Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi and helmed by Yousuf Ali Al Shehhi, came in second. The "Gold 4" boat, owned and helmed by Ahmed Ibrahim Al Ghamlasi, finished third.
In the open category heat, the "Gold 2" boat, from Boom Marine boat manufacturing company, won first place, helmed by Ahmed Ibrahim Al Ghamlasi. The "Bil Arab" boat from the Omani Olympic Committee, helmed by Hamid Salem Al Bahri, secured second place, while the "Julfar 2" boat, owned by Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi and helmed by Nadir Bader Al Shehhi, came in third.
Mohammed Al Marri, Director of Sports Affairs at the Dubai International Marine Sports Club, honored the winners. He praised the high technical levels demonstrated by the participants and confirmed that the results reflect the anticipated level of competition for the 29th edition of the Al Maktoum Cup for local rowing boats, scheduled to take place next week.
