Ahmed Ali Al-Raisi elected as President of the Gulf Chess Federation for 2026-2027, with the federation's headquarters moving to the UAE for two years.


UAE to Lead Gulf Chess Federation

Ahmed Ali Al-Raisi, Vice Chairman of the Ajman Chess Club Board of Directors, has been elected as the President of the Gulf Chess Federation for the 2026-2027 term. This decision was made during the federation's General Assembly, which was held remotely. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Kaabi was also elected as the Secretary-General.

The General Assembly decided to host the headquarters of the Gulf Chess Federation in the UAE for a period of two years, in accordance with the federation's regulations, succeeding the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The meeting, held remotely, was chaired by Adel Al-Amiri, a member of the Gulf Chess Federation's Board of Directors. It was attended by the heads of chess federations of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and Nasser Abdullah bin Amer, the Acting Secretary-General of the UAE Chess Federation.

Ahmed Al-Raisi expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Ministry of Sport for its continuous support, confirming that this support is a fundamental pillar in the achievements of UAE sports and contributes to enhancing its presence at regional and international levels.

He also thanked the UAE Chess Federation for the trust and support, noting that the UAE's leadership of the Gulf Chess Federation represents a great responsibility and a significant opportunity to develop the Gulf chess system by enhancing joint cooperation, expanding the base of practitioners, and raising the level of tournaments and technical programs.
