The Al-Wehda club has officially announced the appointment of Slovenian coach Darko Milanič to lead the first team, replacing the interim Portuguese coach Dimas Teixeira, who had been in charge following the departure of his compatriot José Morais to Al-Sharjah. This decision comes after the team's unexpected exit from the President's Cup quarter-finals, losing 4-2 to Al-United. Milanič is a familiar figure in UAE football, having previously coached Al-Wehda from December 2024 until the end of last season, succeeding Norwegian coach Roar Johansen. Before that, he managed Bani Yas in the 2023-2024 season, leading them to a 10th-place finish in the league with 26 points. Milanič brings a wealth of coaching experience gained from working across various continents, including spells at Slovan Bratislava, Anorthosis Famagusta, and Pafos from Cyprus, Sturm Graz from Austria, Leeds United from England, and Partizan from Serbia.
