World No. 7 Russian tennis player Mira Andreeva began her title defense at the 'Tennis Dubai' professional tournament, defeating Belgian Jacqueline Christian 7-5, 6-3. The match took place on Wednesday in the round of 16 of the 26th edition of the tournament, held at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Centre in Al Quoz. The event is a WTA 1000 category with a total prize fund of $4.08 million. Andreeva will face American Amanda Anisimova, the world's sixth-ranked player, in the quarterfinals. Anisimova also advanced to the next round after a convincing 6-1, 6-3 victory over Indonesian 46th-ranked player Janice Tien. Meanwhile, last year's Dubai Tennis finalist, Danish world No. 15 Clara Tauson, defeated Polish world No. 50 Magda Linette 6-4, 6-2 to secure her place in the quarterfinals as well.
