Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been suspended for two matches after receiving his sixth yellow card of the season. This is in line with new regulations that mandate a two-match ban upon reaching this number of cautions.
As a result, Guardiola will be absent from the bench for the Premier League match against West Ham, as well as the quarter-final match of the FA Cup. The suspension follows his angry reaction to refereeing decisions during the team's 3-1 win over Newcastle in the FA Cup Round of 16.
In a post-match press conference, Guardiola expressed his frustration with some of the referee's choices. He stated: "Some decisions are simply incomprehensible to me. It's not about whether to punish or not, but about those decisions that are difficult for me to understand." The manager also emphasized: "The foul committed against Doku is very clear, and I will not be silent anymore. I am even proud of holding the record for yellow cards among managers".
Guardiola gave a specific example: "When Doku feinted past Trippier and broke away, he was pulled from behind. That's a foul everywhere... except here".
