Three Key Indicators Bring Al-Ahli and Al-Nasr Closer to UAE Basketball Final

The semi-final playoff stage of the basketball championship has revealed three key indicators that boost the chances of Al-Ahli Youth and Al-Nasr reaching the final, scheduled for next month. The most prominent of these are defensive solidity and offensive effectiveness.

Last Sunday, Al-Ahli Youth concluded the first stage with a perfect record, earning six points from three wins, leading by one point over Al-Nasr, which finished second with five points (two wins, one loss). Al-Sharjah came third with four points (one win, two losses), and Al-Bataeh fourth with three points (three losses).

The remaining teams are still clinging to their hopes before the competition resumes next Monday, with the start of the second leg of the playoffs across three rounds. At its conclusion on March 31st, the two teams advancing to the final (the leader and the runner-up) will be determined. The final will be held under a "best of 3" system (home and away, with a tiebreaker game if necessary).

Al-Sharjah will begin the second leg with a tough away match against host Al-Nasr. In the first leg, held on the 7th of this month, "Al-Emriid" needed extra time to win (88-83) after the regular time ended in a draw (74-74).

Meanwhile, Al-Bataeh will face Al-Ahli Youth. "Al-Raqi" will seek to avenge their loss in the first leg, which ended (77-100).

It is worth noting that Al-Ahli Youth and Al-Nasr reached the final of the "Federation Cup" on the 3rd of this month, the first final of the current season. Al-Ahli Youth was crowned champion after a hard-fought victory (103-100) in the final seconds, thanks to a successful three-pointer by American professional Desondre Washington.

According to the official statistics of the Basketball Federation, "Emarat Al-Youm" highlights three technical indicators that bring Al-Ahli Youth and Al-Nasr closer to the final, as follows:

  1. Defensive Solidity Statistics showed that Al-Ahli Youth boasts remarkable defensive solidity, as "Al-Fursan" conceded only 242 points during the first stage, an average of 80.6 points per game. Al-Sharjah was second with 274 points (91.3 per game), followed by Al-Nasr with 290 points (96.6), and Al-Bataeh with 314 points (104.6).

  2. Offensive Effectiveness Al-Ahli Youth and Al-Nasr dominated the offensive effectiveness, with "Al-Fursan" leading the total with 311 points, an average of 103.6 per game. "Al-Emriid" followed with 288 points (96 per game). Al-Sharjah was third with 262 points (87.3 per game), and Al-Bataeh fourth with 259 points (86.3).

  3. Breaking the 100-Point Barrier Al-Ahli Youth succeeded in surpassing the 100-point barrier in all of their games during the first stage, defeating Al-Bataeh (100-77), then Al-Sharjah (101-72), and finally Al-Nasr (110-93).

Conversely, Al-Nasr and Al-Sharjah shared the second place in breaking this barrier, as each achieved it once: Al-Nasr beat Al-Bataeh (107-97) in the second round, and Al-Sharjah also beat Al-Bataeh (107-85) in the third round.
