UAE Team Aims for Historic Victory in Paris-Roubaix

The UAE Team XRG cycling team, led by Slovenian rider Tadej Pogačar, will participate in the 'Paris-Roubaix' race this Sunday, aiming for a new historical achievement. The team's announced roster, in addition to Pogačar, includes Nils Politt, Florian Vermeersch, Mikkel Berg, Sebastian Molano, Antonio Morgado, and Roy Oliveira. Pogačar has already won the 'Milan-San Remo' and 'Tour of Flanders' titles this season, making him the holder of four out of five major titles in cycling. He now aims to win the 'Paris-Roubaix' title for the first time. If he wins, Pogačar will be the first rider since 1979 to win all five 'monuments' of cycling: 'Milan-San Remo', 'Tour of Flanders', 'Paris-Roubaix', 'Liège-Bastogne-Liège', and 'Giro di Lombardia'. The 'Paris-Roubaix' race is Pogačar's final challenge in this series and perhaps his toughest test. Last year, Pogačar became the first Tour de France champion to compete in the race since 1991, finishing second behind Dutch rider Mathieu van der Poel. He was close to winning but fell 38.1 km from the finish. The 'Paris-Roubaix' race is known as 'The Hell of the North' due to its extreme difficulty. It is held on cobblestone roads in Northern Europe, making it the most grueling one-day race. Pogačar said: 'Paris-Roubaix is one of my main goals in this period of the season... My previous participations have gone perfectly, so the motivation is high and the pressure is less.' He added: 'I will enjoy participating regardless of the result... We have a strong team with riders who have previously podiumed here, so I am not the only one capable of achieving a positive result.'
