Dubai is set to transform into a major hub for competition and physical activity this weekend, hosting 13 diverse sporting events. The events, organized in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, will take place across various areas of Dubai and see widespread participation from all segments of society.
The highlight of the weekend is the Expo City Dubai Half Marathon, featuring over 1,400 participants aged 16 and above. The race is scheduled for Sunday and will pass through the iconic landmarks of Expo City Dubai, offering varied distances of 5, 10, 15, and 21 kilometers to suit all fitness levels. The race kicks off at 7:15 AM.
Competitions for the Academies Championship, the largest of its kind in the region, will also continue with a record-breaking participation of over 12,000 players representing 508 teams from various government and private academies and clubs. The championship is organized by the Dubai Sports Council and the UAE Football Federation in partnership with Delta Events, aiming to enhance efforts in attracting and nurturing emerging sports talent in line with Dubai's policy.
Additionally, the Dubai Polo Cup is being held at the Hatta Polo & Equestrian Club until April 18. This championship is for the intermediate level (6-8 goals) and features prominent teams such as Hatta (recently crowned Dubai Masters Cup champions), UAE led by Her Highness Sheikha Maitha bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Wolves led by Hatta Al Hatta, Benegas led by Benegas, and Jehangiri led by Saad or Mohammed Jehangiri.
The Hatta Show Jumping will take place on Friday, April 17, at the Hatta Polo & Equestrian Club. It is one of the key events on Dubai's equestrian calendar, featuring categories from beginners (40-85 cm fences) to professionals (120-140 cm fences). Over 150 jockeys from various equestrian clubs in the country will participate.
Also, on April 18, the «Best in the Ring» tournament will be held at B7 Hall, organized by The Boxing Experience. This is one of the most anticipated boxing events in Dubai, featuring a full program of 12 amateur bouts alongside key professional fights, including a match between Ziad Wael and Guy Gifter, and Bahrain's champion Yousif Ali facing boxer Davis Areho. The list also features prominent names like Nabil Shodri, Khaos, Yuri Goncalves, Dylan Van Kalk, and Hamza Abdel Salam.
The Pullman Run will start from Pullman Downtown Dubai and will follow a scenic and tranquil route along Dubai Water Canal. The race, designed for all fitness levels over 5 and 10 kilometers, is organized by Rise Me.
From April 17 to 19, the Periwinkle International Open Cup in Rhythmic Gymnastics will be held at Saeed bin Maktoum Hall in Al Mamzar. Children and juniors aged 5 to 18 will compete according to the standards of the International Gymnastics Federation.
The Hamilton Aquatics Swimming Championship will be hosted at the Hamdan Sports Complex on April 18 and 19, with over 400 boys and girls aged 12 to 17 competing in freestyle and butterfly events (50m, 100m, 200m, 400m).
Furthermore, events include the GTO Fitness Championship at Emirates Palace Hotel, the Enduro Cross for motorcycles at Mix Ride Academy, the Art Run in Expo City Dubai with distances of 2.5, 5, and 10 kilometers, the Dubai Endurance Karting Championship at Dubai Autodrome, and the third FC Fight Night series boxing event at La Perle.
