Former Olympic silver medalist Tommy Fleetwood was among the stars present at the launch of the first DP World Tour Play-Offs, a series of two tournaments - the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and the DP World Tour Championship. Eyes of the golfing world will be focused on the UAE next month, when the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, featuring the 70 highest-ranked players from the DP World Tour, takes place at Yas Links from November 7-10, followed by the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates the following week, where the season-long Race to Dubai champion will be determined.

The previous event took place at the DP World Pavilion, Expo City Dubai, where attendees heard from notable figures, including Fleetwood himself, a two-time Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship winner in 2017 and 2018, and also the initiator of the Dubai Desert Classic earlier this year. Among those present were His Excellency Aref Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Daniel Van Otterdijk, Chief Communications Officer of DP World, Mohammed Abdulla Rahman Al Marzuki, General Director of HSBC, UAE, and Tom Phillips, Director of Middle East, DP World Tour.

It has already been confirmed that some of the brightest stars of golf, including Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Shane Lowry, Adam Scott, and Robert McIntyre, along with Billy Horschel, who recently celebrated his second victory at the BMW PGA Championship, will participate in both events.

"We are excited about the union of the two biggest sporting events in the region, creating an exciting new element to conclude the DP World Tour season," noted Tom Phillips.
