The emirate of Fujairah will host two prominent Taekwondo tournaments at the Zayed Sports City complex from February 1st to 9th. The events are organized by the Fujairah Martial Arts Club under the supervision of the UAE and International Federations. The Fujairah International Taekwondo Tournament (G2) will be held from February 1st to 5th, while the Arab Taekwondo Cup (G1) will take place from February 7th to 9th, with notable participation from around the world and the Arab nations. Nader Abu Shaish, Director of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club and Tournament Manager, stated that Fujairah has become a global platform for producing Taekwondo champions. He emphasized that the Fujairah International Taekwondo Tournament (G2) serves as the annual opening event for the International Taekwondo Federation season. Athletes aim to utilize this first tournament of 2026 to compete and earn points qualifying for the upcoming 2028 Olympic Games. Abu Shaish added that the tournament has been instrumental in discovering world-class talents, many of whom later went on to win Olympic and world medals, alongside Arab champions from Jordan, Tunisia, Morocco, Syria, Egypt, Oman, and other countries. He noted that both tournaments are expected to see wide global and Arab participation, thanks to the unprecedented facilities provided by the organizing committee compared to other international events, Fujairah's advanced infrastructure, and the high technical standards of the competitions.
