The United Arab Emirates Karate Federation has announced the participation of 2,338 athletes from 93 countries in the World Karate Youth League, which kicks off tomorrow at the Zayed Sports City Complex in the emirate of Fujairah and runs until February 15. This announcement was made at a press conference held yesterday in Fujairah, attended by the Vice President of the UAE Karate Federation, Vice President of the Asian Federation, and other high-ranking officials. Rashed Al Ali confirmed that the new tournament records reflect the standing of the UAE and Fujairah as a global hub for combat sports. He also highlighted the presence of 436 referees and 505 certified coaches, emphasizing the trust placed in international events held in the country. Tournament Director Hamid Shams noted that Fujairah's fourth consecutive hosting of the event cements its status as a world capital for combat sports, a success attributed to its advanced infrastructure and professional organization. Coordinator Dr. Abdullah Al Badi stated that the record number of participants and geographic diversity reflect the tournament's rapid growth and the confidence of international federations. He added that the event will feature many surprises and side activities, including a raffle for travel tickets to Mumbai and Kannur, courtesy of Fujairah International Airport. The 2026 World Karate Youth League is poised to become a prominent global sporting event.
