Today, the falcon racing competitions begin as part of the Liwa International Festival 2026, featuring a elite group of falconers. The races will be held over three days. On the first day, competitions for the 'young falcon' (Farkh) category will take place, with a maximum of four falcons allowed per owner, at a rate of one falcon per round. The rounds include categories for Jeer Shaheen, Jeer Beraq, Jeer Karmoush, and Jeer Tab. Competitions continue on the second day of the international festival with the 'professional young falcon' (Farkh) category, while the third day will feature the 'Jarnas' category. The organizing committee announced yesterday in a statement that the race distance is 400 meters and the races will start at 8 AM, applying the highest standards of organization and safety for traditional races. The committee also confirmed that all preparations for the race are complete, following the closure of registration according to the schedule, the draw for rounds, and setting a maximum participation of 50 falcons per round to ensure fairness and fair competition among participants. The statement added that the falcon race enjoys great public interest within the Liwa International Festival, as it represents a significant stop on the agenda of heritage events that contribute to preserving cultural heritage and enhancing its presence for future generations.
