Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority has completed the first phase of the water control and monitoring system project. This is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to provide the best services to the emirate's residents and adopt the latest technologies. Fahim Al Serkal, Director of the Water Department at the authority, explained that the first phase involved connecting all 18 desalination and pumping stations, along with transmission lines and distribution networks, into a single unified operational system. This enables real-time monitoring and data centralization in a state-of-the-art control center. He confirmed that the project provides a comprehensive operational view of the networks, enhancing operational efficiency and network reliability, and helping operational teams respond quickly and make more efficient decisions. He also pointed out that the project is the foundation for the second phase, which will see the development of the control and operational support system by introducing advanced analytical tools and artificial intelligence technologies to support network sustainability and improve performance. The second phase is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of this year and be completed by early 2028. • The first phase included connecting all 18 desalination and pumping stations, as well as transmission lines and distribution networks.
