In parallel with its productions, 'Al-Youm' celebrates theater pioneers annually by honoring two personalities (one Emirati and one Arab), and supports theatrical talents through a comprehensive program that includes training workshops, competitions, and specialized publications. Preparations for the 35th edition of the 'Sharjah Theatre Days' are ongoing, organized under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The committee includes: Abdullah Rashid, Muhammad Misad, and Ahmed Al Ansari. 'Sharjah Theatre Days' is considered one of the most prestigious cultural events in the region, held at the beginning of each year to develop the theatrical scene through diverse performances and intellectual seminars that enhance cultural awareness. In this context, the Higher Committee of the Theatre Festival, established in 1984, held its third meeting yesterday at the Palace of Culture, chaired by Ahmed Bourhima, Director of 'Al-Youm', and attended by members: Ismail Abdullah, Ahmed Al Jasmi, Muhammad Jamal, and Abdullah Rashid. The meeting reviewed files of 12 troupes that applied to participate, appreciating the efforts of their administrations and their commitment to meeting technical requirements within the specified deadlines. It also approved some procedural amendments to the regulations of 'Sharjah Theatre Days'. The Selection and Classification Committee for participating theatrical productions in the 35th edition will begin its work on February 27th and submit its final report on March 7th of next year.
