Sharjah Announces Theme for Sixth Edition of Poetry Criticism Prize

The General Secretariat of the Sharjah Prize for Arabic Poetic Criticism has announced 'Transformations of the Poetic Language in the Arabic Poem' as the title for the sixth edition of the prize, organized by the Cultural Affairs Department of the Sharjah Department of Culture. This was decided during a meeting held by the General Secretariat yesterday at the Department of Culture to choose the new edition's theme and to open the door for participation in the prize's topic for writers, critics, and those interested in Arabic poetic criticism, in accordance with the prize's terms and conditions. Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Qais, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department at the Sharjah Department of Culture and General Secretary of the Sharjah Prize for Arabic Poetic Criticism, stated that the prize is now moving towards a new and renewed cycle addressing a remarkable critical topic, continuing its role in contributing to the establishment of a cultural scene that places the Arabic poem at the center of critical attention to track the transformations occurring in its language and aesthetic structure. He pointed out that the prize has established a specialized critical library through its successive cycles, considering the vast amount of knowledge provided by the submissions, which witness increasing participation with each new edition. He explained that the new edition's title opens wide critical horizons rich in connotations and references, and stems from a deep research approach connected to the transformations of the poetic language in the Arabic poem, which allows critics broader spaces to work on emerging critical issues. He noted that the Secretariat will work on expanding the scope of awareness about the prize, starting from universities and academic circles and reaching critics in various Arab countries, in addition to organizing introductory seminars through poetry houses across the Arab world, ensuring wide Arab participation.
