The Sharjah International Marine Sports Club concluded the first-ever International Championship for Lifesaving Sports, which saw the participation of 86 athletes representing various countries around the world. This unique sporting event reflects the rapid development of lifesaving sports at both regional and international levels. The closing ceremony was attended by Khamees bin Salem Al Suwaidi, an advisor in the office of the Ruler's office, and Secretary General of the Sharjah Sports Council, Muhammad Ubaid Al Hassan. They crowned the winners and honored the top finishers, praising the high technical level of the competitions and the sportsmanship displayed by the participants. Ahmed Isa Al Hosani, General Manager of the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, stated: 'Lifesaving sports are recognized worldwide and are included in the programs of the recognized Olympic Games. They carry a humanitarian and professional dimension, as they aim to develop the skills of professional rescuers and enhance their physical and mental readiness, ensuring a rapid and effective response in emergencies and maritime rescue operations.' Al Hosani emphasized that organizing this championship aligns with the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah in supporting specialized and niche sports, and in promoting maritime safety culture, alongside supporting the hosting of international events that contribute to exchanging experiences and raising the level of national and international competencies in this field. The championship witnessed strong competitions in various categories and races, reflecting the advanced level of the participants and consolidating Sharjah's position as a capable destination for hosting specialized international championships.
