Sharjah Prepares for New Season After Missing Title Chance

Ibrahim Saleh Sambidge, president of the football company at Sharjah Club, revealed that the club is currently preparing the team early for the next season to compensate for the missed opportunity to compete for the Professional League title in the current season. He pointed out that the team suffered from a shortage of players, and during the last winter transfer window, they sought to strengthen the team with new elements, but they did not manage to sign the players they were targeting to support the team with the required specifications. Sambidge told "Al-Emarat Al-Youm" after his team Sharjah's 4-1 win over Dibba in the postponed match of the 16th round: "For us, the board of directors, when we took over the task, the team had no choice but to think about competing for the UAE Super Cup and the UAE-Qatar Super Cup titles, and the team succeeded in achieving that by winning both titles. Regarding the team's missed chance to compete for the league title in the current season, we aim to make up for it in the upcoming season through good preparation for the team." Sambidge explained that "the team is going through a transitional phase, so it needs more time for the existing players to gel with each other." The president of the football company at Sharjah Club also indicated that they are keen to provide the team's requirements, especially regarding contracting players to strengthen the team for the next season. Despite Sharjah achieving a significant feat this season by winning the UAE Super Cup against Al Ahli and the UAE-Qatar Super Cup against Qatari Al-Gharrafa, the team has also exited the race for the Professional League title, currently occupying eighth place in the standings with 20 points, a massive 24 points behind the current leaders, Al Ain. The team also said goodbye to the race for the President's Cup title, and internationally, they were eliminated from the group stage of the AFC Champions League Elite. Regarding the joy of Sharjah's fans over the team's return to winning ways after their last 4-1 victory over Dibba in the match held last Saturday, postponed from the 16th round of the league, Ibrahim Sambidge confirmed that a victory is a reason to celebrate. Sharjah had suffered several setbacks recently, leading to a drop to the relegation-threatened positions, having lost 0-5 to Al Jazira in the 18th round of the league, before that losing 2-3 to Ajman in the 17th round and 1-4 to Al Ahli in the 15th round. The win over Dibba came as a breath of fresh air for a team that has been accustomed to being at the forefront in recent years.
