Major Retail Discounts Surge to Over 35% on Essentials

Many consumers have noted that large retail chains have started discounts, reaching over 35% on products from popular brands known for their high quality. They emphasize that previously these products rarely participated in discount promotions or were quite rare. Consumers call for an expansion of the assortment of discounted products from popular brands, especially on core products, seeing this as a positive development in the market. They note that most discounts are limited to a specific assortment of products, which hardly changes.

These discounts apply to products that consumers commonly ask for, such as fresh chicken, meat, eggs, butter, paper towels. Representatives of various sectors explained that the discounts on products from well-known brands are motivated by market competition and the desire to increase sales volume. They anticipate that strong price promotions will take place this year within this competition.

They confirm that the offered discounts on products that interest consumers and are considered priorities for them are a key factor in maintaining loyalty to the store in the conditions of an increasing number of retail outlets and growing online shopping.

One consumer, Nadia Shuaybi, noted that she recently saw discounts on high-quality products from popular brands, which allowed her to buy goods at lower prices. She mentioned that one of the stores was offering a discount on fresh chicken from a well-known brand, which usually does not have discounts, reducing the price from 25 to 18.5 dirhams per kilogram, which is about 26% cheaper. Another store offered a discount on popular brand paper towels, lowering the price from 30 to 22 dirhams, amounting to approximately 27% off.

Consumers urge stores to expand the assortment of products with discounts on popular and high-quality brands, particularly on core products, asserting that more often than not, discounts relate to a specific assortment of products and brands of goods.

Another consumer, Rafik Marzuk, stated that at the beginning of this year, he noticed a positive trend in the form of discounts on products from popular brands of high quality. He indicated that these items usually do not participate in discount promotions, or discounts on them are rare. He noted that one of the stores for the first time in a long time offered a discount on large eggs from a well-known brand, lowering the price from 27.3 to 21.3 dirhams for a pack of 30 eggs. Prices for medium and small eggs were also reduced by 20%. He noted that eggs are one of the essential core products that frequently do not have discounts across all brands, with rare exceptions.

Marzuk considers it important for stores to expand the assortment of discounts on popular brands, which are commonly requested by consumers, especially on core products.

With increasing market competition and desires from stores to boost sales volumes, representatives of different sectors indicated that current discounts on products from popular brands would be significant this year.
