A recent study published by "Proofpoint" - a specialist in the field of cybersecurity and compliance - revealed that organizations in the UAE and Saudi Arabia faced an increase in the number of attacks via email in recent months. Analyzing data from the first quarter of 2021, the study identified a significant rise in harmful emails directed at corporations in the region.
Incidents related to data breaches, harmful programs, and ransomware significantly increased, prompting companies in the UAE and Saudi Arabia to rethink their cybersecurity strategies. Experts also noted that attacks involving harmful emails are becoming increasingly sophisticated and cunning, requiring businesses to pay greater attention to information protection.
As Usama Rasheed, Vice President of Cybersecurity at Proofpoint for the Middle East and Africa, states: "We are increasingly seeing that cybercriminals are becoming more sophisticated and cunning, employing various methods to deceive end users. This situation underscores the importance of regularly updating security strategies and training employees in cybersecurity practices."
