Airbus Expands Manufacturing in UAE

The head of Airbus in the Africa and Middle East region, Gabriel Simelas, stated that the company aims to start producing parts for the A400M military transport aircraft group in the United Arab Emirates. This step, according to him, enables more integrated collaboration with companies such as EPI and Strata, which are based in the UAE, in the global supply chain. Furthermore, Airbus is developing plans to create centers for the maintenance and modernization of A400M aircraft, as well as training centers, which enhances the position of the UAE as a regional hub in aviation.

"Simelas emphasized Airbus's commitment to developing local talent through educational programs and technical assistance, as well as through research partnerships that support the development of future industries in the UAE. Airbus is not limited to providing products and services but also supports related industrial strategies in the UAE, such as the '300 billion' project, investing in previous manufacturing and the development of national talents, reinforcing the country's position as a global center of future industries.

The company intends to expand cooperation with the UAE in the aviation and defense sectors. Airbus has a significant presence in the Middle East for over 40 years and has played an important role in developing the sector through strategic partnerships, such as cooperation with EPI in the UAE."

Simelas added that Strata, under the Mubadala umbrella, has been supplying Airbus with key components for their widebody aircraft, such as the A350, for over 15 years, confirming the UAE's status as a leading global supplier in this field. He also noted that EPI, part of Edge, plays a key role in producing essential components for the A320 and A330 aircraft, gradually transitioning to assembly manufacturing, which helps strengthen the country's role as a leading center for high-tech aircraft manufacturing.

This cooperation testifies to the growing role of the UAE in Airbus's global supply chain, contributing to the objectives of the Council on balance and industrial development strategies of the country. Airbus continues its commitment to providing tailored solutions, expanding strategic partnerships, and enhancing cooperation at the industry level to ensure that their offerings in the field of equipment and aviation align with the sustainable and economic priorities of the region.
