The UAE's hotel sector has reported revenues of 45 billion dirhams in 2024, marking a 3% increase from 2023, with hotel occupancy hitting 78%.

Minister of Economy Abdulla ben Tuak al-Meri announced that tourist revenue in the country is expected to reach 45 billion dirhams during 2024, which represents a growth of 3% compared to 2023. The level of tourist occupation in the country is 78%, making it one of the highest in the region and the world.

At a meeting with the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Croatia and the Secretary of State for Tourism of Spain, Abdulla ben Tuak discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the field of tourism, exchanging experience and practices in sustainable tourism development.

During the discussion of current issues in the tourism sector at the international level with the tourism ministers of Spain and Croatia, Abdulla ben Tuak emphasized the importance of the National Tourism Strategy 2031 for supporting sustainable development and competitiveness of the sector in the coming decade.

The minister also noted that friendly relations with the markets of Europe and partnerships in various tourism sectors contribute to the development of the economy and the creation of new opportunities for future tourism prospects at the regional and global levels.

According to him, "tourism in the UAE is experiencing significant qualitative growth, thanks to national strategic initiatives that help create outstanding tourist infrastructure, develop leading tourism directions and products, as well as increase the number of tourists and visitors across all emirates.".

The modernization and development of infrastructure have allowed new hotels to be launched in the UAE, and by the end of last year, the total number reached 1,251. Over the year, the number of Spanish tourists visiting the UAE has grown to 150,231 in 2024, a 14% increase compared to 2023. The number of airlines between countries is around 48 flights weekly with the use of air carriers from both countries.
