Dubai International Chamber, one of the three chambers under Dubai Chambers, has inaugurated a new international representative office in Dhaka to enhance trade and investment ties between Dubai and Bangladesh. This move is part of the 'Dubai Global' initiative aiming to establish 50 international representative offices by 2030, and it increases the chamber's worldwide network to 35 offices. At the inaugural ceremony in Dhaka, attended by H.E. Abdulla Ali Abdulla Alhmoudi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to The People's Republic of Bangladesh, and representatives from the Bangladeshi business community, the importance of this step in strengthening economic partnership was emphasized.
The establishment of this office is a key strategy to promote Dubai as a global business hub and provide essential investment information to Bangladeshi firms looking to enter the Dubai market. The office will facilitate Dubai-based companies seeking to expand into Bangladesh by offering market insights, identifying business opportunities, and connecting them with local stakeholders and partners. The goal is to support international expansion and attract foreign direct investment, thereby solidifying Dubai's status as a prominent business center globally.
Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, highlighted the significant growth opportunities that Bangladesh presents for companies based in Dubai. The bilateral trade between the two countries has been steadily increasing, reaching AED 6.3 billion in 2024, reflecting a year-over-year growth of 9%. The number of Bangladeshi companies registered with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce has also been rising, with 9,094 active companies by the end of Q1 2025.
Lootah further emphasized the office's role in engaging with the Bangladeshi business community, strengthening relations with both public and private sector entities, and fostering economic cooperation between Dubai and Bangladesh. This initiative aims to build connections, facilitate trade relations, and attract investments that will benefit businesses in both markets. The UAE's Ambassador to Bangladesh, together with Dubai Chamber officials and Bangladeshi business representatives, expressed confidence that the new office in Dhaka will pave the way for enhanced economic cooperation and mutual prosperity.
