Under the title "The Sons of the Seven Sands," author and media consultant Alexander McNab sheds light on the entire history of the UAE, its diverse and rich heritage. He presents the history of this country, starting from the emergence of modern humans in Africa to our present day, in one comprehensive volume.
Alexander McNab has lived in the UAE for over 30 years and in his research he combines precise scientific data with practical experience, accumulated throughout the years of residence in the region.
"The Sons of the Seven Sands" collects contemporary archaeological research with previously unstudied archival documents, in order to present the history of the UAE in a completely new way, according to the publisher.
Alexander McNab notes: "During the preparation of articles for journals in the nineties, I first realized that in this region a deep history is ignored. Over time, puzzles began to form, and I understood that the history of this place is astonishing and dramatic, filled with fears, horrors, and conflicts, spanning thousands of years and diving deep into the history of humanity."
In the book "The Sons of the Seven Sands," the significant influence of trade networks, dating back more than 5000 years, is explored, revealing the trade monopoly of Arab merchants with Asia, bringing wealth to the Byzantine Empire, Genoa, and Venice.
McNab emphasizes: "This book expands our understanding of the UAE, providing a new meaning to buildings and places in the country, while zones that have long been known to us unfold as key elements illustrating and encapsulating the history of the UAE. Almost every stone in this region has its importance in the history of this place."
The presentation of the book "The Sons of the Seven Sands" will take place at the inaugural UAE Literature Festival on February 1.
