The Federal Authority for Identification, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security announced the conduct of nearly 270 inspection campaigns throughout the UAE in January 2025 under the slogan "Towards a safer society." This initiative has allowed violators to either leave the country without the introduction of a ban on entry or legalize their status by concluding new employment contracts.
Lieutenant General Suhail Saeed Al-Hayli, the Director General of the authority, stressed the obligation for the UAE to ensure the legal presence and safe living conditions for all residents and those seeking work in the country. He noted that these efforts are aimed at identifying violators of the law regarding entry and residency as part of the department's strategy to support compliance with residency legislation.
"These efforts are aimed at identifying violators of the law regarding entry and residency within the strategy of the department to enhance compliance with residency legislation. Of them, 93% of violators have already been deported," said Major General Al-Hayli.
According to his words, the campaigns in January 2025 revealed approximately 6,000 violators, while the report on the conspiracy involved primarily 6,000 violators. The campaigns were conducted after the completion of the grace period for correcting the status, which ran from September 1 to December 31, 2024.
To continue these efforts, specialized teams of the authority conducted intensive inspections across all Emirates to identify violators and take the necessary legal actions. General Major Al-Hayli emphasized that these inspection campaigns are aimed at strengthening the culture of rule of law and respect for human rights in society.
During the campaigns, procedures for the deportation of 93% of detained individuals were completed. Additionally, he explained that, in accordance with the instructions of the UAE authority, a four-month grace period for legalization has been established from September 1 to December 31, 2024. This period has been provided for correcting the status of violators and residents of the country.
