UAE Leaders Grant Clemency to Over 3,000 Prisoners

Leaders in the UAE continue the tradition of showing compassion during the Holy Month of Ramadan by granting clemency to more than 3,000 prisoners across the country. The annual act of mercy is intended to give inmates a fresh start, reunite them with their families, and enhance social stability in the community.

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has led the initiative by ordering the release of 1,295 inmates from correctional institutions in the UAE. Additionally, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, has directed the release of 1,518 prisoners from Dubai's correctional facilities.

The prisoners, coming from different nationalities, were selected based on their good behavior while serving their sentences. This tradition of clemency during religious and national occasions reflects the values of mercy, generosity, and social harmony in the UAE.

In Fujairah, H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, has also ordered the release of 111 inmates, while H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, pardoned 207 prisoners in the emirate.

In a compassionate gesture, the UAE leaders have not only granted clemency but have also pledged to help the released prisoners settle any financial obligations accrued during their incarceration, facilitating their reintegration into society. The humanitarian actions undertaken during Ramadan showcase the UAE's commitment to fostering a culture of forgiveness and second chances.
