The UN announced the successful mediation in a new exchange between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. In the exchange, 205 Ukrainian and Russian prisoners participated, which brought the total number of exchanged individuals through UN mediation to 4,181 people. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to both countries for their cooperation in enhancing the efforts of UN mediation.
"This testifies to the trust and gratitude of both countries regarding the role of the UN in supporting all efforts for a resolution of the crisis between Russia and Ukraine," the ministry noted. They emphasized that the success of this exchange reflects the excellent connections between the UN and the two countries.
In addition, the Ministry confirmed the obligation of the UN to ensure the success of all efforts directed at finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine and alleviating the humanitarian consequences of the crisis, including for refugees and prisoners.
