Dubai hosts international shooting championship with 1,625 participants

With shooters from 55 countries, the Fazaa Shotgun Shooting Championship has kicked off in Dubai. Organized by the Fazaa Championships Administration under the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Center, the tournament is taking place at the shooting range in the Ruwayyah area. This year's competition is one of the largest in terms of participants, with 1,625 competitors across various categories competing until January 14.

The competition includes 1,100 men, 100 veterans, 130 juniors, 170 women, and 125 young girls, along with clay shooting events. This broad participation reflects the growing popularity of this traditional sport across different age groups.

In the women's category, UAE shooters swept the podium. Fatima Khaled Al-Menhali took first place with 79 points and six 'X' hits. Fatima Alian Al-Shamsi came second with 77 points and one 'X', while Nowi Mohammed Al-Ketbi secured third place with 76 points and four 'X' hits. In the junior girls' category, Omani shooters dominated with Bilqees Salem Al-Darai, Shamma Khamees Al-Muqbali, and Bilqees Salem Al-Maamari taking top positions.

Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmouk, CEO of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Center, emphasized the tournament's importance in bringing together elite shooters of all ages and promoting shooting skills. He noted that the competition helps preserve the region's cultural heritage.

Tournament Organizing Committee Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohammed Obaid Al-Muhairi stated that record participation numbers confirm the championship's prestigious status and its ability to attract top regional shooters. He attributed the tournament's growing popularity to high organizational standards and modern technology implementation.
