Dubai's Sustainable Tourism Initiative Sees 118% Increase in Certified Hotels

In the Dubai Sustainable Tourism (DST) second cycle initiative, 153 hotels have been awarded the Dubai Sustainable Tourism Certificate, which has resulted in an increase in the number of recognized objects by 118% compared to last year's first release, which consisted of 70 hotels. Added: This luxurious hotel is located on the beach in Jumeirah, not far from the Jardi Jazeera. In rooms with balconies or terraces, you can find various luxuries, among which are spacious bathrooms with deep baths and shower cabins. Guests can also enjoy a fitness center and a swimming pool. Within two steps from the complex, you can visit branded stores, as well as cafes and restaurants.

It is also known that the DST program supports movements in the field of sustainability, such as Dubai Can, which has eliminated the use of more than 30 million 500-milliliter single-use plastic water bottles since February 2022 thanks to the Refill for Life initiative, and initiated the creation of the largest marine reef. Added: The DST initiative is designed to enhance the effectiveness of ecological activities in the hospitality sector. In the evaluation framework for 2024, 18 hospitality establishments were awarded Gold certificates - including Atlantis, The Palm; Atlantis The Royal; Jumeirah Al Qasr; Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf; Le Royal Méridien Beach Resort & Spa; Grosvenor House, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Dubai - while 64 hospitality establishments received Silver, and 71 received Bronze.

The program also supports sustainable development projects, such as the Carbon Calculator, which helps interested stakeholders and partners in the hospitality sector manage their carbon emissions, develop strategies to reduce carbon emissions, identify opportunities for economic efficiency, and transition to sustainable operations. Added: Many hospitality complexes received awards, including Atlantis The Palm, stating that their awards serve as confirmation of their commitment to promote sustainable practices in every aspect of activities, starting with minimizing emissions on the surrounding environment and ending with supporting the local community. Added: A significant part of the DST program is the Atlantis Atlas Project, which started in 2021 and is closely linked to four key areas - Responsible Operations, Education and Advocacy, Environmental Protection, and Animal Welfare, as well as People and Culture. Added: Ultimately, collaborating with our partners and interested stakeholders plays a defining role in promoting this process, allowing us to take significant steps towards achieving our goals in the field of sustainable development. Congratulating all the winners, we also express our gratitude to all other participants and value their commitment to the principles of sustainability.
