Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) has introduced a groundbreaking initiative, the 'Dubai Code for Ports.' This project, created in collaboration with essential maritime partners, is a global first and aims to advance seamless maritime operations by ensuring the highest technical standards in port and marina infrastructure.
Chairman of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, hails the 'Dubai Code for Ports' as a crucial milestone that enhances maritime efficiency while upholding sustainability, natural resource preservation, and marine environment standards. The initiative is a response to the growing demand for maritime infrastructure in coastal regions, supporting Dubai's progress in trade facilitation, marine tourism, and other economic endeavors.
Nasser Al Neyadi, CEO of the PCFC, highlights that the technical guide encompasses various aspects, including soil inspection, dredging, land reclamation, water drainage, and more. He stresses the commitment to creating a safe and efficient environment to underpin Dubai's economic activities and global trade. The project aims to bolster Dubai's global role in the supply chain and maritime transport, thereby fostering international maritime trade and strengthening both local and global economies.
The 'Dubai Code for Ports' sets a new industry benchmark not only in Dubai but worldwide, offering a unified guide for port and maritime management. It aligns with sustainable practices and is designed to elevate the city's position in the maritime sector at regional and global levels. The initiative is expected to enhance port operations, promoting efficiency and safety through adherence to rigorous technical protocols.
To further this initiative, the PCFC conducted a strategic workshop with key maritime stakeholders at Dubai's Jumeirah Beach Hotel. CEO Nasser Al Neyadi views the project as a proactive step for Dubai to manage the accelerating growth in maritime transport and infrastructure. By establishing requirements for customs warehouses and enhancing user experiences in port and marina activities, Dubai aims to solidify its position as a prominent hub in global trade.
