
The Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, Said Hareb, confirmed the ongoing support of DSC to provide all necessary assistance for all public events organized in public spaces in Dubai. He noted: "We organize hundreds of public events every year in various neighborhoods for all segments of society, particularly Walk Beat Diabetes, an annual event that has been held since 2009 as part of the DSC strategy for supporting public initiatives, sporting events, and the promotion of an active lifestyle in society with the aim of preventing diseases, improving the skills to cope with everyday challenges, and enhancing the quality of life."
The significant success and participation in Walk Beat Diabetes is highly valued each year, as this initiative is aimed at raising awareness of the negative consequences of diabetes and motivating all members of society to engage in various types of sports to maintain health and prevent unhealthy lifestyles.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Secretary General of DSC Naser Aman Al-Rahma discussed the ongoing collaboration between DSC and Landmark Group in organizing various public events and highlighted the latest preparations for conducting Walk Beat Diabetes this year, confirming that this version of the initiative will be special, as it comes on the Year of Tolerance and takes into account that Walk Beat Diabetes is one of the most famous public events, attracting tens of thousands of participants of different ages, nationalities, and social classes.
Among the most significant achievements of the initiative are the organization of 14 successful marathons for the fight against diabetes with the participation of more than 165,000 participants, conducting more than 700,000 free blood tests, interacting with 30,000 children through various programs, as well as the conclusion of more than 100 partnerships with both government and private sectors.
The initiative is also aimed at increasing awareness of the importance of sports as a source of joy and a way to prevent diabetes. Miss Nisha Jagtiyani confirmed that the initiative "Beat Diabetes," launched in 2009, plays an important role in raising awareness of diabetes, focusing primarily on prevention and treatment of complications.
Upon the completion of the visit, both sides exchanged trophies and keepsake gifts.
