Dubai Youth Theatre Festival Kicks Off

The 15th edition of the Dubai Youth Theatre Festival starts today, aiming to boost local theater and support emerging talents. The festival runs until the 28th with various competing performances.


Dubai Youth Theatre Festival Kicks Off

Today, the 15th Dubai Youth Theater Festival will start, organized by Dubai's Culture and Arts Authority. The aim of the event is to strengthen the role of the local theatrical community, create an artistic and creative environment that supports youth talents and stimulates further creativity, producing unique works as a cultural sector, and following social changes that contribute to the development of the cultural and creative industry in Dubai.

In the current version of the festival, which will run until the 28th of this month and takes place at the Dubai Culture and Science Center, seven performances will be presented, inspired by reality, represented by local theatrical associations and groups, competing for the festival prizes of "Dubai for Youth Theater." The festival's opening today will feature the performance titled "Please Do Not Ring," written by playwright Makhmood Saleh Al-Sidi and directed by Abdulla Al-Hamadi, performed by the troupe "Ayn."

Within the framework of the festival program, various presentations and discussions will be presented, including the spectacle "Crisis of Hope" by the Abu-Dhabi Theatrical Union, "Loneliness" by the Diba group for culture and arts, "Do I See You" by the actors of the Arts Theatre Hoor-Fakan, the spectacle "Without Medicine" by the troupe of the fourth century for theater and arts presenting the theater "Residents of the Moon" by the National Theater of Dubai and the performance of Dubai Al-Ain Theater, "Scenarist."

Jury members will evaluate theatrical presentations, competing for festival awards, including best theatrical presentation, best actor and actress, best director, best theatrical scenario, and best scenic design. Dubai's cultural scene will honor actress Razika Tarash with the award "Theatrical Personality of the Year" in recognition of her contribution to the enrichment of the local artistic scene.

The festival program includes a series of practical seminars, under the guidance of and participation from researchers, artists, and practicing theatrical activists, presenting critical readings of the content of theatrical productions and their methodologies, as well as assessing performances by theatrical groups on stage.
